Gudalur, Theni

     

 

                    Theni District (Tamil: தேனி மாவட்டம்) is a district of Tamil Nadu state in South India. The city of Theni is the district headquarters. The district is divided into two natural divisions: The hilly areas constituted by parts of the three taluks Periyakulam, Uthamapalayam and Andipatti with thick vegetation and perennial streams from the hills on the western side and Cumbum valley which lies in Uthamapalayam taluk.[2] As of 2011, Theni district had a population of 1,245,899 with a sex-ratio of 991 females for every 1,000 males.

Gudalur is located at 9.31°N 77.20°E.[1] It has an average elevation of 1182 metres (3888 ft). gudalur is very beautiful tourism pleace under the pleas in surruli falls,near by lake of theakadi and suranganar falls all so there in nature under the gudalur.

                According to 2011 census, Gudalur had a population of 41,915 with a sex-ratio of 1,006 females for every 1,000 males, much above the national average of 929.[2] A total of 3,355 were under the age of six, constituting 1,727 males and 1,628 females. Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes accounted for 6.61% and .56% of the population respectively. The average literacy of the town was 66.83%, compared to the national average of 72.99%.[2] The town had a total of 12001 households. There were a total of 20,860 workers, comprising 799 cultivators, 13,578 main agricultural labourers, 637 in house hold industries, 4,206 other workers, 1,640 marginal workers, 22 marginal cultivators, 1,055 marginal agricultural labourers, 121 marginal workers in household industries and 442 other marginal workers.[3]

The current Headmaster name is mr.Kathiresan[Kabes, as he is popularly known - he was awarded 'the best teacher' National award in 2010 for distinguished service in the teaching profession] has been credited with the school's distinction in academic results year after year in the 10th and 12th Board exams.But by recent years, the school reputation has dedly gone,because of the poor Teachers selection by the Management. NSK Ponniah Gowder Higher secondary School and RMGK Higher secondary School -GUDALUR is more popular in the year 2010. The pass percentage for 2010 is 99.97%.
